Prof. Dr. Axel Schölmerich: \"The significance of infancy\"
Abstract: Infancy is a time of rapid developmental change, seemingly dominated by biologically defined needs and processes. Over the last two or three decades, research has accumulated showing variations in ways adults interact with infants in different cultural or ethnic settings. The lecture will attempt to summarize those findings, put them in perspective and discuss implications for providing services forculturally diverse populations.
Bio: Prof. Dr. Axel Schölmerich is head of the Developmental Psychology unit at Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany. His past research has focused on mother-infant-interaction, the cultural context of human development, emotional development, and, most recently, on EEG-correlates of dyslexia. He is a member of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Family Research at Ruhr-University and has served as editor of several journals of developmental sciences. He held appointments as Professor of Psychology at the Martin-Luther University in Halle, Germany, and as a
Fogarty-Fellow at the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development, Bethesda, MD, USA.
Prof. Dr. Ian Brockington: \"Severe disorders of the mother-infant relationship\"
Bio: Prof. Dr. Ian Brockington (born 1935) trained as a cardiologist and completed his doctoral thesis on work on cardiomyopathy (\'Heart muscle disease in Nigeria\'). Later, he decided to train in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital where he developed a strong interest in nosology of psychiatric illnesses. In his later work, Prof. Brockington focused on the great problems of impaired mother–infant relationships or bonding.
Prof. Brockington, now emeritus, was visiting professor at the universities of Chicago and Manchester. He later served as Chairman and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Birmingham. Further, Prof. Brockington was responsible for developing regional services for pregnancy-related mental illness and served as Consultant Psychiatrist for the Mother and Baby Unit at Queen Elizabeth Psychiatric Hospital in Birmingham. He is the founder of the Section on Women\'s Mental Health in the World Psychiatric Association and became first president of the Marce Society. Prof. Brockington is author of a large number of peer-reviewed papers and the monumental work \"Motherhood and Mental Health\" (1996).

The 8th Central European Symposium on Pharmaceutical Technology with focus on Challenges and Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Engineering – the Most Exciting European Scientific Event in Fall 2010!
Welcome to Graz and to the 8th Central European Symposium on Pharmaceutical Technology. It is a great honor and an exciting challenge for the two Universities of Graz, the Karl-Franzens-University and the Graz University of Technology, as well as for the Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering GmbH to host an event that gathers together every two years the most distinguished scientists in the field of pharmaceutical technology and pharmaceutical engineering as well as young scholars presenting the results of their first research efforts.
The Symposium will be accompanied by a Satellite Symposium entitled: Challenges and Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Engineering - the 4th International Congress on Pharmaceutical Engineering

Dank erfolgreicher Prävention und guter zahnärztlicher Versorgung ist die Mundgesundheit der Deutschen immer besser geworden. Auch immer mehr ältere Menschen verfügen über immer mehr eigene, gesunde Zähne.
